You’ve inherited an old PC from your uncle, to your surprise it still turns on! Greeted by a very retro-looking OS, you face the computer’s previous user profiles. With a bit of exploration you find a letter within your uncle’s profile, addressed to you. It tasks you with looking into a mysterious application named Desktop Explorer.
Desktop Explorer is an investigation/puzzle game set in a retro-style operating system. Solve puzzles by interacting with built-in software features, immersing yourself into a realistic late 90’s computer experience.
The game follows a fairly innocent narrative as you progress through it’s puzzles and explore it's files. However it becomes clear to you that there is more than meets the eye with this machine, as you slowly see its familiar façade fade away in favor of something darker...

- Fully interactive 90’s desktop experience - manage files, customize your desktop, make it yours!
- Puzzle solving using your desktop features - rename files, change your screensaver, you'll have to get creative.

I love games like these and it was so much fun playing and figuring out the puzzles! Cant wait for the full release :D
can someone please give me hint or a way to solve puzzle 5 idk y im so lost on how to do it 😭

Any other hints for Puzzle 2? Without spoiling anything, I thought the answer was gonna be nozzle, but it turns out that it wasn't correct...
EDIT: Ohhhh! I thought it was about a gardening hose!
Originally came here to show support for another Desktop Sim developer but I honestly got hooked and stayed up playing. Don't want to spoil, but there are a ton of mechanics in here that blew my mind... Music and ambience gave me chills. Really excited for what you have planned!

really really cool demo!! had a fun time solving the puzzles and can't wait to see what a full release holds! one thing i wanted to ask is if there's any way to clear save data? i tried deleting and re-downloading it but all the progress i made was still there, though i cant see the bottom row of the screen shown in the screenshots so i might've missed some options
Thank you so much for playing our demo! We have a clear save data button at the settings menu. You can access to it from the very beginning of the game (from the select user screen at the very bottom).
We fixed the error that made the screen not visible for some resolutions. Thanks again!
